The B.A.S.S Nation Tournament Trail is the Road to the Bassmaster Classic
Rising through the ranks of the B.A.S.S. Nation to compete in bass fishing's most prestigious tournament takes dedication and perseverance, but the rewards for advancing to the next level are great. Only one Canadian has risen all the way to the top through the BASS Nation, and that is Charles Sim, who started his BASS career Right here with OVSB as a non-boater.The steps from local club to Classic are presented below:
CLUBS AND PROVINCIAL CHAPTERS
Members of Ottawa Valley South Bassmasters qualify through our local club Bass Fishing Series (from previous year results) for the Ontario B.A.S.S. Nation Provincial Qualifier. The Ontario B.A.S.S. Nation which consists of 20+ B.A.S.S Chapters holds the Provincial Qualifier on the last weekend of August of each year to qualify the top ten boaters, and top ten Non-boaters to form Team Ontario (a 20-person team plus two alternates) who will compete at the following year B.A.S.S. Nation Eastern Regional Championship.
Regionals
B.A.S.S. invites each B.A.S.S. Nation to bring a 22-person team (one of them is Team Ontario) to one of 3 (three) B.A.S.S. Nation Regional Tournaments. Ontario B.A.S.S Nation belongs to the Eastern Region. The regional breakups can be seen here. The purpose of this 3 day tournament is to qualify one boater and one non-boater from each of the Nation teams for the B.A.S.S. Nation Championship. The highest finishing boater and non-boater from each team will qualify for the B.A.S.S. Nation Championship.
B.A.S.S. NATION CHAMPIONSHIP
At the B.A.S.S Nation Championship, the Top boater and non-boater from each of the B.A.S.S. Nation compete for one of the Three Nation spots in the Bassmaster Classic. Full details below.
